Promoting Roman Archaeological Heritage in Morocco
A PROJECT HELPING PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE THE ROMAN HERITAGE IN MOROCCO
The Moroccan Association for Natural and Cultural Heritage (MANCH) aims to protect and promote natural and cultural heritage in partnership with local communities and other stakeholders in the field.
The Ancient Rome Live has selected our association for a grant to support our project: Promoting Roman Archaeological Heritage in Morocco.
This project intends to disseminate knowledge about archaeological sites that experienced a Roman presence in Morocco like Volubilis, Banasa, Lixus, Tamuda, Thamusida and Sala. Information on the history, culture, economy and Roman architecture in Morocco will also be highlighted.
The work will be published in the form of videos, interviews and booklets. Awareness workshops and guided tours will be organized for tourist guides and the general public for better dissemination of the realized knowledge.
All information produced will be digitized for better communication via the internet, particularly on social networks. The languages of communication will mainly be English, Arabic and French.
The work will be supervised by members of the association and specialized experts.

Roman archaeological sites are an integral part of our heritage, our history, and our civilization. As members of civil society and specialists in the field, our duty is to raise awareness among people (tourists and locals, children, youth, and adults) about the importance, richness, and beauty of this heritage.
Our project will have a significant impact on the target audience, as it aims to share simple and clear scientific information and fill the gaps in knowledge regarding Roman archaeological heritage in Morocco.
Our work will constitute a guide not only to understand and appreciate the Roman heritage in Morocco but also to better guide visitors by providing them with information on routes to the sites to visit, timetables, means of transport, prices…
The knowledge produced through this project will be shared with the relevant public administrations such as the Ministries of Culture, Tourism and National Education, the conservation of Roman archaeological sites, tourists, travel agencies and the general public.
