The cultural and artistic “rebirth” of Rome – the Renaissance- was indebted to a newfound study and appreciation of ancient Rome. Let’s look at some of the striking discoveries, from statuary (Belvedere Torso and Laocoon) and fresco (Domus Aurea), made in the 15-16th centuries as well as a look at the monuments that still stood in papal Rome.
