We’ve refreshed our monthly program to bring you two unique experiences: a Short Seminar (approximately 20 minutes) and a Masterclass (1 hour).

The Short Seminar offers quick, focused dives into the stories and sites of ancient Rome. The Masterclass, on the other hand, is your chance to spend a full hour with leading scholars, exploring topics in depth and asking your own questions live.

SHORT SEMINAR

The Roman Trophy

October 5, 9pm Rome (CET)

In Rome, victory wasn’t just celebrated on the battlefield, it was made visible in the city itself. The tropaeum, or Roman trophy, was the effigy of the vanquished foe, replicated in sculpture, relief, and monumental display. In this 20-minute seminar, we’ll examine how Romans used these striking images to remind citizens (and enemies) of their military power.

Expert Guest: Sally Grainger | What did the Romans really eat and what did it taste like? Join us for a one-hour masterclass with Sally Grainger, world expert, independent scholar and author of Roman Recipes for Modern Cooks. From Apicius’ recipes to hands-on experimental archaeology, Grainger brings the kitchens of antiquity to life, showing how ingredients, techniques, and tastes shaped Roman daily life.
