The American Institute for Roman Culture (AIRC) is proud to announce that its flagship education platform, Ancient Rome Live, has been awarded a $1 million dollar grant from the Musk Foundation under the Expandere Conscientiae Lumen initiative. This transformative grant reinforces Ancient Rome Live’s mission of fostering global understanding and appreciation of the ancient Roman world through education, research, and innovation.

“This grant marks a pivotal moment for Ancient Rome Live,” said Darius Arya, Ph.D., Director. “We are deeply honored by the Musk Foundation’s recognition of our work. This is confirmation of our work, and we are really excited to be the participatory organization selecting new, innovative projects in the field.”

The Expandere Conscientiae Lumen program supports innovative projects that preserve and promote Greco-Roman culture—the foundation of Western Civilization. This funding will empower Ancient Rome Live to advance archaeological research, cultural heritage initiatives, and public engagement globally. As part of this grant, the AIRC is launching an open call for applications to fund innovative archaeological and cultural heritage projects by archaeologists, university researchers, academics, architects, conservators, computer scientists, museums, and cultural operators that demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and measurable outcomes.
