Free Education at Scale

What a year it’s been. Ancient Rome Live now has 88,000 subscribers, more than 350 videos, and 14 million views, and we keep growing, together. In 2026, our Masterclass series brought some of the world’s finest scholars directly to our audience, including Barry Strauss, Bronwen Wickiser, Sally Granger, Maria Liston, and Michele Stefanile — all free, all accessible, all made possible by people like you. Your donation keeps it that way.

Excavations That Wouldn’t Otherwise Happen

In 2026, we returned to Cardito Vecchio with three student excavators and made a discovery that stopped us in our tracks: a medieval church with an apse, painted plaster, and marble revetment dating to the 12th–13th century. “It truly is a great discovery,” said Darius, “and helps us understand this portion of Samnite territories.” We’re also proud to continue supporting ongoing excavations at Foligno. None of this happens without you.

Learning in the Field

For the fifth consecutive year, ARL partnered with NC State University’s College of Design to bring students to Rome for a weeklong immersion of  sketching, measuring, and experiencing the ancient world as a living classroom. Thanks to Dan Smith and ARL supporters, these students get an experience that changes how they see everything.

A New Archive for the World

We’re digitizing the Fred Kleiner photographic archive of more than 1000 photos and decades of remarkable documentation of Roman monuments, much of it captured before sites were altered or lost forever. The public launch is planned for 2027, and it will be free for the world. Your support makes it happen.
